Chennai, May 17: T.T.V. Dhinakaran, the General Secretary of the AMMK, launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and the ruling TVK government in Tamil Nadu on Sunday. He raised concerns about the stability of the government, accusing it of compromising its political principles for the sake of power.
Addressing a press conference in Tiruchi, Dhinakaran expressed doubts about the current political arrangement surrounding the TVK government, questioning whether the coalition structure would endure in the coming months. “I do not know if Vijay and the left parties can stay together for the next six months,” he stated, highlighting the turmoil the TVK government is already facing.
He noted that prior to the elections, they stood united in a coalition, but post-elections, they have shifted towards a different arrangement for power, raising serious questions about their integrity.
Targeting Chief Minister Vijay, the AMMK leader urged him to step out of the superficial world of social media and focus on governance. “The Chief Minister should move beyond ‘Instagram reels administration’ to real governance,” he remarked.
Dhinakaran also accused Vijay of adopting contradictory political stances regarding the AIADMK. He pointed out that Vijay had previously labeled the AIADMK as a corrupt party but is now benefiting from the support of its legislators. “How can this be justified?” he questioned.
In a sharp critique of senior leader K.A. Sengottaiyan, Dhinakaran alleged that attempts are being made to weaken the AIADMK from within. He mentioned that Sengottaiyan keeps a picture of Jayalalithaa in his pocket while trying to destroy the party he helped create. “Jayalalithaa’s spirit will never forgive those trying to weaken the AIADMK,” he warned.
Dhinakaran cautioned that disciplinary action could be taken against AIADMK legislators supporting the TVK government. He claimed that if AMMK or AIADMK legislators are offered ministerial positions, demands for a CBI investigation would arise, indicating potential political repercussions.
