Iran Warns US and UAE Against Military Action Amid Political Crisis

Tehran, May 5: Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, has issued a stern warning to the United States and the United Arab Emirates, stating that military action is not a solution to any political crisis. This statement comes in response to the launch of Project Freedom by US President Donald Trump, aimed at facilitating the transit of vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Araghchi referred to Project Freedom as a “Project Deadlock,” emphasizing that the recent events in Hormuz have made it clear that there is no military resolution to the ongoing political turmoil.

In a post on the social media platform X, Araghchi highlighted that diplomatic efforts, aided by Pakistan, are progressing, and urged the US to be cautious of being dragged back into a quagmire by its adversaries. He extended similar advice to the UAE, reiterating that military solutions are futile.

Meanwhile, President Trump refrained from confirming whether the ceasefire between the US and Iran would continue. During an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, when asked if the ceasefire had ended and if attacks could resume, Trump responded, “I can’t tell you that.”

In a separate interview with Fox News, Trump warned the Iranian military that any attempts to target US vessels in the Strait or the Persian Gulf would result in severe consequences. He later asserted that military conflict with Iran is essentially over.

Additionally, Danish shipping and logistics company Maersk confirmed that one of its vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz under US military protection, with all crew members safe. The ship, Alliance Fairfax, had been unable to leave the Persian Gulf since the onset of hostilities in February. Maersk expressed gratitude to the US military for their professionalism and effective cooperation, looking forward to returning to normal commercial operations.
