Karnataka Chief Minister Allocates Departments to 13 Ministers

Bengaluru, June 4: Karnataka’s newly appointed Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has allocated departments among 13 members of his cabinet late Thursday night. The list of department allocations has been sent to Governor Thawarchand Gehlot for official notification.

Chief Minister Shivakumar has retained key departments including Finance, Cabinet Affairs, Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR), Intelligence, and other undivided departments.

Yatindra Siddaramaiah, son of former Chief Minister and Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Siddaramaiah, has been appointed as a minister for the first time, taking charge of the much-anticipated Urban Development Department.

Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara has been assigned the Revenue and Sports departments, having previously held the Home Department in the last government.

K.H. Muniyappa will oversee the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Department, while K.J. George has been given responsibility for the Energy and Tourism departments. M.B. Patil will manage the Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Department, and Ramalinga Reddy has been assigned the Water Resources (Major and Medium Irrigation) Department. Satish Jarkiholi will handle the Public Works Department (PWD).

Krishna Byregowda has been tasked with the Greater Bengaluru Development Department, which includes the Greater Bengaluru Authority, various municipal corporations, Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board, and Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation.

Priyank Kharge will oversee the Home Department (excluding the Intelligence branch), Information Technology and Biotechnology (IT-BT), and E-Governance Department.

U.T. Khader has been assigned the Health and Family Welfare Department, having previously served as the Assembly Speaker.

Bairathi Suresh will manage the Transport Department, while Sharan Prakash Patil has been given the Medical Education and Skill Development Department. Ishwar Khandre will oversee the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RDPR) Department.

The allocation of departments has been long awaited following the formation of the new cabinet. The allocations will formally take effect after receiving the Governor’s approval and the issuance of a notification.
