Nagpur, June 7: In a significant crackdown on drug-related activities, police in Pune have detained 156 individuals during a raid on an illegal rave party, seizing drugs and alcohol worth ₹8.5 million. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis commented on the operation, stating that a large-scale initiative is currently underway.
The raid took place early in the morning at a venue in the Tulapur area, where the event, dubbed ‘Project X’, was being held. Authorities discovered approximately 3 grams of cannabis and confiscated 10 packets of banned hookah flavours. Additionally, around ₹9.22 lakh worth of alcohol was seized from the site.
During a media briefing in Nagpur, CM Fadnavis emphasized Maharashtra’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy on drugs, asserting that this action reflects ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse in the state.
In response to comments made by NCP Chief Sharad Pawar regarding rising domestic cylinder prices, Fadnavis remarked that the global situation has affected fuel prices worldwide. He noted that while prices have increased, Prime Minister Modi has managed to stabilize them to a large extent in India.
Fadnavis acknowledged that the current war-like conditions would continue to impact prices but expressed optimism that they could decrease when availability improves.
Additionally, the Chief Minister’s office provided updates on the monsoon, indicating that rainfall across the state is unlikely until at least June 15. Weather forecasts suggest that parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada, Khandesh, and central Maharashtra may experience cloudy afternoons with gusty winds and scattered showers. However, conditions are not yet favorable for sowing in large areas. The Agriculture and Disaster Management Department has urged farmers and citizens to avoid rushing into sowing based on anticipated stormy weather and to stay clear of trees, tin sheds, and electrical infrastructure during thunderstorms.
