Bhivani, April 26: Senior BJP leader Jay Prakash Dalal made a significant claim regarding the West Bengal Assembly elections on Sunday. He stated that Mamata Banerjee‘s government is set to exit, and it has become certain that the BJP will form the next government in the state.
Dalal referred to the massive voter turnout in the first phase of the elections for 152 assembly seats in Bengal. He emphasized that the high voter turnout is evidence that people have voted for change in favor of the BJP. He noted that for the past 40-50 years, there have been instances of booth capturing, which hindered voting, allowing the Communist Party and later the Trinamool Congress to govern. This time, he believes that voting has been conducted fairly and in favor of the BJP.
Criticizing the Mamata government, Dalal remarked that the historic voter turnout clearly indicates that the BJP is on the rise while Mamata is on her way out. He attributed this shift to misgovernance, corruption, and poor policies.
Regarding the recent defection of seven Rajya Sabha members from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to the BJP, Dalal stated that AAP’s foundation is built on lies. He accused the party of engaging in corruption and nepotism, claiming that many of Arvind Kejriwal’s associates have left due to their dual character. He asserted that while they appear simple on the outside, they lead luxurious lives internally.
Voting for the second phase, covering 142 seats, is scheduled for April 29. BJP leaders assert that the public has signaled their intention to support the BJP in the first phase, and they anticipate a clear majority in the second phase as well. The results will be announced on May 4.
