Jerusalem, April 28: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have announced the destruction of Hezbollah tunnels that have been constructed over nearly a decade. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated in a post on the social media platform X that a massive terrorist tunnel belonging to Hezbollah has been blown up, resulting in the deaths of dozens of terrorists as they continue to dismantle the group’s infrastructure. He added that further actions are still pending.
The IDF reported that under the operations of Division 36 in southern Lebanon’s Kantarah, they have discovered the most significant underground tunnel found in Lebanon to date. This tunnel is approximately 2 kilometers long and extends 25 meters below ground.
It was also mentioned that the tunnel was constructed with the help of Iran and was destroyed on Tuesday using 450 tons of explosives. According to the IDF, the tunnel was dug into rocky granite and featured 30 shafts, with a length exceeding 2 kilometers across two different axes.
Inside, the tunnel contained 30 rooms, decorated with images of leaders from the Ayatollah regime and ornamental lamps. The IDF reported that a large cache of weapons was hidden within the tunnels, which were used by hundreds of Hezbollah terrorists stationed in the area.
Lieutenant Colonel H from the Hellenic Army’s First Infantry Division, who has been involved in the search for underground tunnels over the past two years, described this find as particularly significant. On Monday, the IDF announced the destruction of 14 kilometers of underground tunnels in the northern Gaza Strip. Netanyahu has ordered the IDF to launch a vigorous attack on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon.
