New Dawn for Bengal as Suvendu Adhikari Takes Office

New Delhi, May 9: In a significant political shift, Suvendu Adhikari has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of West Bengal, marking what leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) describe as a new dawn for the state. On Saturday, BJP leaders expressed optimism about the future, while also targeting the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and its leader, Mamata Banerjee.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh, speaking to reporters in Begusarai, emphasized Bengal’s historical significance as a cultural hub of Sanatan traditions. He criticized the TMC for allegedly fostering extremism and targeting Hindus, claiming that the party’s governance had led to chaos and lawlessness, particularly with the support of Bangladeshi Muslims. Singh stated that the people of Bengal chose the BJP when the situation became intolerable.

He further remarked that TMC leaders had engaged in theatrics for several days, while goons created an atmosphere of disorder, asserting that justice would be served to those responsible.

Minister Sanjay Kumar Singh extended his heartfelt congratulations to Adhikari, expressing hope that his leadership would lead to a strong and empowered government in West Bengal, which would facilitate development initiatives.

BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Dev, speaking from Ranchi, declared, “Today marks a new sunrise in West Bengal, symbolizing hope, aspirations, development, and a government for the common people.” He noted that the sunset on Friday signified the end of the unjust rule of Congress-Left and the TMC’s tyranny, linking the BJP’s mandate to the aspirations of the public.

Shah Dev praised Adhikari as a grounded leader who stands with the people in their joys and sorrows, asserting that a government for the common people has been established in the state.

Following the BJP’s victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections, Suvendu Adhikari was officially announced as the Chief Minister on Friday. He took the oath of office on Saturday in Kolkata, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in attendance.
