Political Discourse Diverts from Development Issues: ST Hasan

Mumbai, May 26: The political landscape surrounding the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid) has intensified, with former Samajwadi Party MP ST Hasan targeting the Congress party. He accused the BJP of focusing on unnecessary Hindu-Muslim issues, claiming their intent is solely to harass Muslims.

In a conversation, Hasan expressed that the biggest challenge facing the country today is that politics has strayed from real issues such as development, employment, agriculture, health, and education, becoming entangled in Hindu-Muslim debates. He described this situation as unfortunate, as it increases societal divisions and diminishes trust among people.

Hasan alleged that certain political parties deliberately raise issues that create tension. He noted that this not only deteriorates the atmosphere but also sidelines essential questions affecting the lives of ordinary citizens. He emphasized that the purpose of politics should be the welfare of the people, rather than dividing them along religious lines.

Responding to Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane’s comments about a ‘virtual Bakrid’, Hasan remarked that those questioning the festival should reflect on their own past and family. He pointed out that Rane’s father was involved in the goat trade, and even today, a restaurant named after his mother serves non-vegetarian food. “These BJP members have many faces. When you peel back their layers, you will see their true nature,” he stated.

Additionally, Hasan made an appeal regarding Bakrid, urging that the festival, which symbolizes sacrifice and humanity, should be celebrated with peace and respect. He called for the sacrifice to be conducted in a manner that does not disturb the surrounding environment and emphasized that the sacrifice of banned animals should not occur, highlighting the importance of adhering to the law.
