New Delhi, January 14. U.S. President Donald Trump is currently making headlines as he shifts his focus from Venezuela to Greenland. Tensions have escalated between the United States and Denmark over the territory, and in a recent statement, Trump asserted that Greenland’s acquisition by the U.S. would significantly enhance NATO’s strength and effectiveness.
On Truth Social, Trump emphasized, “America needs Greenland for national security. It is crucial for the Golden Dome we are building. NATO should assist us in acquiring it. If we don’t, Russia or China will, and that cannot happen!”
He further stated, “Without America’s substantial military strength, much of which I built during my first term and am now elevating to even greater heights, NATO will neither be an effective force nor a deterrent. They know this, and so do I. Greenland coming under U.S. control will make NATO much stronger and more effective. Anything less is unacceptable.”
Earlier, while discussing his energy, economic, and security policies, Trump mentioned the recent actions taken by the U.S. against Venezuela, claiming they have contributed to lowering fuel prices and supporting economic growth.
While addressing the Detroit Economic Club, he said that U.S. actions regarding Venezuela have been successful and are increasing energy supply. Trump described these actions as entirely successful, noting, “They have 50 million barrels of oil. Take it, it’s worth 5 billion dollars, and we have taken it. The oil is being brought to the United States for refining, which will help reduce gasoline prices. It will require dozens of large ships for transportation. The World’s biggest ships can carry a million barrels. To extract it, we will need the world’s 50 largest ships.”
Trump explicitly stated that the influx of oil from Venezuela is leading to lower fuel prices in the U.S. He predicted that gasoline prices would drop further following the successful actions taken earlier this month, with prices already falling below $2.50 per gallon in several states and even below $2 in some areas.
