Wang Yi Meets Laos and Belgiums Deputy Prime Ministers

Beijing, April 30: Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and China‘s Foreign Minister, met with Thongsavanh Phomvihane, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Laos, in the Chinese capital. This meeting was part of a welcoming ceremony commemorating the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Laos. Wang Yi expressed his appreciation for Thongsavanh’s special visit to Beijing, emphasizing the long-standing traditional friendship and close ties between the two nations. He highlighted China’s readiness to strengthen strategic communication, enhance political mutual trust, and advance cooperation in areas such as the China-Laos railway, mineral resources, trade, economic collaboration, and human resource development, while deepening cooperation within multilateral frameworks like ASEAN.

Wang Yi also held discussions with Maxim Prévot, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Belgium. He noted that this year marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Belgium. With guidance and support from the leaders of both countries, bilateral relations have seen stable and solid development, establishing a comprehensive friendly cooperative partnership. Wang Yi pointed out that Belgium, being the headquarters of the European Union, serves as a significant gateway for China-Europe cooperation. He expressed hope that Belgium would play a positive and constructive role within the EU, promote dialogue and consultation between the EU and China, and work towards resolving trade and economic differences appropriately while maintaining openness and cooperation for mutual benefits.
