Telangana Government to Launch Indiramma Life Insurance Scheme on June 2

Hyderabad, May 24: The Telangana government is set to launch the ‘Indiramma Life Insurance’ scheme across the state on June 2, coinciding with the State Formation Day. The government has described this initiative as a significant gift for the general public.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka termed the scheme as historic, stating that it would serve as a special present for the people of Telangana on the occasion of State Formation Day.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, the Deputy Chief Minister mentioned that the government’s aim is to provide life insurance coverage of ₹5 lakh to 1.15 crore families in the state. He emphasized that the scheme will be inclusive, with no discrimination based on caste, religion, or economic status, ensuring that every needy family can benefit from it.

Finance and Energy Minister Vikramarka highlighted that the government is taking significant steps to empower women and promote entrepreneurship. He announced that solar power plants will be allocated to women’s self-help groups, and the amount for interest-free loans will be increased to a total of ₹1 lakh crore.

He further stated that the government is continuously working to deliver welfare schemes to poor and needy families. Initiatives such as the distribution of high-quality rice, free electricity of 200 units under the ‘Griha Jyoti’ scheme, and the construction of ‘Indiramma’ houses are aimed at assisting every vulnerable family.

Additionally, a cabinet meeting held on Saturday approved the second phase of the ‘Indiramma’ housing scheme. The government has decided to construct new homes for 2.5 lakh poor families in the state, with 2,000 houses approved for each assembly constituency.

The cabinet also decided to complete unfinished ‘Indiramma’ houses that were initiated during the Congress government in undivided Andhra Pradesh but were later halted. For houses with only foundations, ₹3 lakh will be provided for completion, while those with walls but no roofs will receive ₹2 lakh.

Revenue and Housing Minister P. Srinivas Reddy announced that funds have been approved to complete 500 unfinished houses in each assembly constituency. He added that a housewarming ceremony for approximately 1 lakh ‘Indiramma’ houses completed in the first phase will also be held by June 2.
