Mumbai, June 4: The political landscape in Maharashtra has been stirred by a serious allegation from Shiv Sena MLA Abdul Sattar, who claims that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is attempting to dismantle the Shiv Sena. Speaking in Mumbai, Sattar accused lower-level BJP workers of trying to weaken the Shiv Sena in the district, describing their actions as a slow poison that is hollowing out the coalition from within.
Sattar expressed concern over the discontent brewing within the alliance, stating that despite the BJP being their coalition partner and having the Chief Minister from their party, certain local BJP workers are undermining the Shiv Sena. He emphasized the need for introspection, as they are supposed to be allies, not adversaries.
He pointed out that even with a BJP Chief Minister, party workers are engaged in damaging the Shiv Sena’s influence. The BJP has taken control of local bodies where the Shiv Sena previously held sway, and Sattar insisted that power should be used correctly, not misused. He warned that if the larger party in the coalition attempts to eliminate the Shiv Sena, it would be a grave mistake, urging respect for their party.
Reflecting on his experiences, Sattar noted that he had not perceived such issues during the initial years of their governance. However, over the past 18 months, he has become increasingly aware of the troubling attitudes and methods at play. He called for serious discussions on this matter to maintain the strength of the alliance.
Sattar also appealed to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde to take this issue seriously and ensure justice for the Shiv Sena. He highlighted the importance of open discussions to reinforce the coalition. Sattar hinted at the possibility of Eknath Shinde becoming Chief Minister again in the future, questioning who truly holds the reins of power within the party.
He concluded by stating that while the future remains uncertain, significant political shifts could occur, drawing parallels to past unexpected alliances.
