Additional Trips Announced for Nammo Bharat Corridor

New Delhi, May 21: In response to the increasing number of passengers on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Nammo Bharat Corridor, the NCRTC has made a significant decision. To enhance passenger convenience and manage the rising crowd during peak hours, the NCRTC has announced the addition of eight extra trips for the Nammo Bharat trains starting Friday.

According to NCRTC, these additional services will operate during the times when passenger numbers are at their highest. Under the newly revised schedule, extra train trips will be available between Sarai Kale Khan and Meerut South Station from 8 AM to 11 AM and from 5 PM to 7 PM. Two additional trains will also be included in the corridor to facilitate these services.

Officials have noted a rapid increase in the number of passengers using the Delhi-Meerut Nammo Bharat Corridor in recent times. Currently, approximately one lakh passengers are utilizing the Nammo Bharat service daily. This growing number indicates that people are now prioritizing fast, comfortable, and reliable public transport over private vehicles.

The NCRTC believes that this initiative is not only limited to passenger convenience but will also promote environmental protection. Amid the global energy crisis and rising fuel prices, increased use of public transport is expected to reduce dependence on private vehicles, thereby decreasing both pollution and traffic.

The Delhi-Meerut Nammo Bharat Corridor is the country’s first regional rapid rail system, developed to provide fast and modern regional connectivity. The Nammo Bharat trains can operate at a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour, reducing travel time between Delhi and Meerut by nearly one-third.

With the summer season and increasing crowds, many people are opting for comfortable air-conditioned public transport. In this context, the NCRTC is continuously working to enhance the passenger experience and make services more accessible and effective. The introduction of additional train trips is expected to provide significant relief to thousands of daily commuters.
