Barapullah Flyover Completion Set for June 30: Pravesh Verma

New Delhi, May 26: Delhi’s Public Works Minister Pravesh Verma inspected the construction of the Barapullah Flyover on Tuesday. Speaking to reporters, he noted that upon taking office on February 20, the government immediately prioritized this stalled project. Verma mentioned that the flyover was originally slated for completion in 2017 but has faced delays of approximately 8-9 years due to a lack of seriousness from previous administrations, including difficulties in obtaining necessary clearances.

During his visit, Verma stated that he was informed by officials that he was the first minister to inspect the site. Since then, his office has been following up on the project weekly. He reiterated that the work is progressing on schedule and is expected to be completed by June 30.

The minister highlighted that this flyover will feature a unique bicycle corridor, allowing cyclists and two-wheeler riders to use a separate lane. He expressed optimism about additional improvements being planned for the project. On May 12, Verma had indicated that the Barapullah Flyover is a significant undertaking, noting that the construction company had previously faced payment issues with the former government.

He confirmed that payments have now been initiated, and the bridge is nearing completion. The Barapullah Flyover is a crucial elevated corridor connecting South Delhi with East Delhi and Noida.
