Bhopal, May 27: A significant development has emerged in the high-profile Twisha Sharma case. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has placed Twisha’s husband, Samarth Singh, in custody until May 29. Following the CBI’s involvement, the investigation has gained momentum.
Thirty-three-year-old Twisha Sharma was found hanging at her in-laws’ residence in Katara Hills, Bhopal, on the night of May 12. Initial investigations raised suspicions, leading her family to accuse her husband and in-laws of mental harassment, dowry demands, and continuous abuse. Consequently, the Bhopal police registered a First Information Report (FIR) on May 15 under sections related to dowry death and cruelty.
Given Twisha’s background in modeling and acting, the case quickly became a topic of national discussion. Meanwhile, the accused, Samarth Singh, who is the son of retired judge Giribala Singh, evaded authorities for nearly ten days following the incident.
Samarth later surfaced in Jabalpur, where he attempted to surrender after withdrawing a plea for anticipatory bail from the Madhya Pradesh High Court. However, the police clarified that this was not a surrender but an arrest. He was presented before a Bhopal court, which granted a seven-day police remand due to allegations of non-cooperation during initial questioning and failure to answer critical questions.
Investigating agencies have stated that several questions regarding Samarth Singh’s activities on the day of Twisha’s death remain unresolved. Both the police and CBI are conducting a thorough examination of his location, call records, digital data, and financial transactions.
Meanwhile, hearings regarding bail petitions are ongoing in the Madhya Pradesh High Court, drawing significant public attention. Twisha’s family has consistently raised concerns about the local police investigation and has called for a CBI inquiry. They now hope that the central agency will uncover the truth behind the case.
Officially, a team from CBI’s Special Crime Unit-III arrived in Bhopal on Tuesday morning. The team, which includes two female officers, inspected the roof of the Katara Hills residence where Twisha’s body was discovered. Officials also examined various parts of the house and collected crucial evidence.
In the coming days, the CBI plans to interrogate other family members and investigate various aspects, including marital disputes. There is significant outrage on social media regarding this case, with calls for strict action against the guilty.
