Election Results Expected Today for Five States

New Delhi, May 3: The initial trends of the assembly election results from four states and one union territory will be revealed in just a few hours. It will soon be clear who will hold power in these regions.

Voting for all assembly seats in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal was completed in April. In Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry, voting took place in a single phase on April 9, while Tamil Nadu also conducted its voting in one phase on April 23.

West Bengal held elections in two phases on April 23 and April 29 for its 294 assembly seats. Results for 293 seats will be announced on Monday, as the Election Commission has decided to conduct re-polling for the Falta seat, which will take place on May 21, with results expected on May 24.

To form a government, a majority of 148 seats is required in the West Bengal assembly, while Assam needs 64 out of 126 seats, Kerala requires 71 from 140 seats, Tamil Nadu needs 118 from 234 seats, and Puducherry requires 16 from 30 seats.

Record voter turnout was noted in these elections, with Assam recording 85.38%, Kerala at 78%, Tamil Nadu at 85.1%, Puducherry at 89.08%, and West Bengal at 92.47%.

Security arrangements at counting centers have been tightened ahead of the counting process. All counting centers in West Bengal have been designated as high-security zones, with a significant deployment of central forces to maintain peace and order.
