Indian Ambassador Vikram Doraiswami Presents Credentials to President Murmu in China

New Delhi, April 30: Vikram Doraiswami, the Indian Ambassador to China, has officially presented his credentials to President Droupadi Murmu. The Indian Embassy in China confirmed this development. Doraiswami, a 1992 batch Indian Foreign Service officer, was appointed as the ambassador in March.

The Indian Embassy announced on the social media platform X, “Vikram Doraiswami received his credentials from the President of India for his assignment as Ambassador in China.” According to information shared by the Ministry of External Affairs, Doraiswami holds a Master’s degree in History from Delhi University.

After completing his in-service training in New Delhi in 1992-1993, Doraiswami was appointed as Third Secretary at the Indian Embassy in Hong Kong in May 1994. He also completed a diploma in the Chinese language from the New Asia Yale-in-Asia Language School at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The Ministry of External Affairs further stated that Doraiswami is currently the High Commissioner of India to the United Kingdom and has been appointed as the next ambassador to China, with expectations that he will assume office soon.

In September 1996, he was assigned to the Indian Embassy in Beijing, where he served for nearly four years. Upon returning to the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi in 2000, Doraiswami took on the role of Deputy Chief of Protocol (Official). He was later promoted to the Prime Minister’s Office, where he served as the Prime Minister’s Private Secretary.

In 2006, Doraiswami worked as a Political Advisor at India’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York and served as the Consul General in Johannesburg, South Africa, in October 2009.

In July 2011, he returned to the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, leading the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) department, and was also the coordinator for the fourth BRICS summit in March 2012.

From October 2012 to October 2014, Doraiswami served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs’ American Department, before being appointed as Ambassador to Korea in April 2015, following his tenure as Ambassador to Uzbekistan in October 2014.
