Mango Jatra Celebrates Cultural Unity and Farmer Welfare in Indore

Indore, May 10: The ‘Mango Jatra’ held during the Malwa Utsav in Indore showcased a vibrant celebration of taste, tradition, and farmer empowerment. The event attracted a large number of citizens eager to sample the renowned ‘Hapus’ mangoes from Devgarh and Ratnagiri.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who attended the three-day fair organized by a Marathi social group at the ‘Rural Haat Bazaar’, described the event as a symbol of national unity and farmer welfare. He announced a financial grant of five lakh rupees to support the ‘Lok Sanskriti Manch’.

Traditional dancers welcomed the Chief Minister, while stalls displaying handicrafts, artworks, and regional cuisines enhanced the festival’s appeal. The CM interacted with mango producers, inspected the stalls, and praised their dedication to bringing the country’s most prestigious mangoes to the heart of Malwa.

He emphasized that such fairs connect farmers directly with consumers, ensuring they receive fair prices and fresh produce. The Chief Minister announced an incentive of 11,000 rupees for each of the 24 mango producers and appreciated their long-standing participation in the festival.

He noted that the ‘Mango Jatra’, adorned with stalls of delicious mango-based dishes, handicrafts, and khadi products, has evolved into a unique market that merges culture, commerce, and community. This enriches Indore’s identity as a city of diversity and traditions.

In the ‘Silver Jubilee’ (25th year) edition of this event organized by the ‘Lok Sanskriti Manch’, the Chief Minister commended artists from across India who wove the country’s cultural diversity into a thread of unity through their performances.

He described the atmosphere created by folk dances such as Bhangra, Garba, and Badhai as enchanting, as if heaven had descended to earth. He remarked that the arrival of these prestigious mangoes in the city of ‘Maa Ahilya’ symbolizes national unity.

The ‘Mango Jatra’ drew large crowds eager to taste delectable mango dishes, including ice creams, shakes, chutneys, and jams. Additionally, stalls featuring khadi garments and handmade products were set up. Several prominent leaders, including former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, along with other legislators, MPs, and senior officials, attended the event.
