
Lucknow, May 15: The Uttar Pradesh Assembly transformed into a vibrant democratic classroom on Friday as students from various schools in Kanpur observed the proceedings, parliamentary traditions, and democratic processes up close.
On this occasion, Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana engaged warmly with the students, emphasizing that mere bookish knowledge is not enough; understanding the functioning of democratic institutions is equally essential.
He stated that today’s students are tomorrow’s informed citizens and the future builders of the nation. Therefore, it is crucial for them to develop a sense of respect for the Constitution, democratic values, and public interest.
The educational visit included students from Vivekanand Vidya Niketan Inter College, Ashoka Education Center, and Poornachandra Vidyaniketan, who participated alongside their teachers. The students learned about the historical and administrative features of the Assembly and witnessed the proceedings, question hour, and legislative process firsthand.
Satish Mahana provided detailed insights into the Assembly’s functioning, the law-making process, and the responsibilities of public representatives. He noted that the Assembly is a vital platform for discussing issues related to the public and enacting laws that shape the state’s development. He added that such educational visits cultivate leadership skills, awareness, and a sense of responsibility among students.
Moreover, he encouraged students to embrace discipline, positive thinking, and continuous learning, stating that success comes not only from education but also from values, hard work, and sensitivity towards society. The enthusiasm among students during the visit was palpable.
