BJPs Amal Kumar Panda Wins in Sabang Assembly Election

New Delhi, May 4: In a significant political shift, BJP candidate Amal Kumar Panda has emerged victorious in the Sabang Assembly seat of West Bengal, defeating senior TMC leader and former minister Manas Ranjan Bhuiyan. Panda secured 127,783 votes, while Bhuiyan received 116,647 votes, marking a margin of 11,136 votes.

The first phase of voting for the Sabang Assembly seat took place on April 23, with a high turnout of voters. The election featured several prominent candidates, including Bhuiyan from the Trinamool Congress and Panda from the Bharatiya Janata Party. The CPI(M) fielded Nakul Chandra Bera, while the Congress party nominated Alok Kumar.

Sabang is considered a crucial political seat in the West Medinipur district, known for its rural influence and competitive electoral landscape. It falls under the Ghatal Lok Sabha constituency, currently represented by TMC’s Deepak Adhikari.

Established in 1951, Sabang has a historical significance in West Bengal’s electoral politics, with Congress historically dominating the seat until recent years when TMC has made significant inroads.
