Oslo, May 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the India-Norway Business and Research Summit in Oslo on Monday, which saw participation from over 50 CEOs and more than 250 members from the business and research communities of Norway and India. Following the summit, several CEOs commended PM Modi for his efforts to simplify business operations in India during conversations with news agencies.
Christian Sorensen, CEO of BW LPG, stated, “Our company has been investing in India for the past seven to eight years, and we can see how the Prime Minister’s dedication and commitment to making business easier in India have significantly contributed to the overall business environment. This has been a crucial part of our success story in India.”
Ramesh Mutha, Chairman and Managing Director of Mohan Mutha Exports Private Limited, remarked, “The business meeting was excellent. Norway has been a long-standing partner of India, and this globalization, along with the Prime Minister’s visit to Norway, has opened doors to strengthen our collaboration, especially in the energy sector, shipping, and fuel. The country is beautiful, and the people are very humble; we are also exploring joint ventures in Norway.”
Morten Fon, CEO of Jotun, noted, “There have been many changes in India since we arrived. One example is how trade between states has been made easier. The Prime Minister spoke about shipbuilding in India today, which is very close to my heart.”
Alf-Christian Dybdahl, CEO of Laird Medical, expressed, “The summit was great. It was interesting to hear different speakers and perspectives. India is a very exciting market for all of us, and I believe there is much more potential. Today, we got a glimpse of some of those areas, which is truly fascinating.”
Rajat Mehta, President of Wealth Mehta Equities Private Limited, added, “I think it’s wonderful that wherever PM Narendra Modi goes, there is a different atmosphere, collaboration, partnership, and relationship. His energy and ability to bring people from all countries together is evident. He has been on the road for the past six days, so I believe this is a remarkable effort by the Prime Minister and his team.”
Anders Opedal, CEO of Equinor, stated, “Energy security is at the top of our agenda. We are supporting India with crude oil and LPG for cooking gas, and now we have a long-term contract for LNG imports in India.”
Anders Anger, CEO of Hias HODWTO, commented, “India and Norway are very different countries, but they share some similar values regarding how international business should be conducted. Shipbuilding presents a significant opportunity for India. We have also heard about energy and, of course, IT and other sectors.”
Sandeep Singh Chadha, VP of Growth and Strategy at SAEL, said, “It was great. Prime Minister Modi has come to Norway for the Indo-Nordic Summit after 43 years. It is a joy that Norwegian and Indian companies are working together.”

Business has become much easier within India, and many good things have happened, but today he talked about shipbuilding in India, which is very close to my heart. Jotun Marine Coatings is a major supplier globally, holding 25% of the global market, and we have a significant share of the Indian market.”
