New Delhi, May 17: The joint military exercise ‘Sinbax-2 2026’ has successfully concluded in Cambodia, focusing on counter-terrorism operations. The exercise involved Indian military personnel alongside Cambodian forces, where troops engaged in training with drones, mortars, and snipers.
Initiated on May 4 and running until May 16, the exercise aimed to enhance interoperability, coordination, and operational synergy between the two nations’ armed forces. ‘Sinbax’ is viewed as a significant step in India’s military diplomacy and international cooperation. Soldiers practiced counter-terrorism operations and coordinated strategies in jungle and semi-urban environments.
The joint exercise emphasized anti-terrorism efforts, with the primary goal of making military operations more effective through joint training in unconventional settings. Participants learned from each other’s experiences, exchanging modern techniques and strategies while strengthening ground-level coordination. The exercise took place at the Royal Cambodian Air Force training center in Kampong Speu province.
A total of 120 Indian soldiers participated, primarily from the Maratha Light Infantry Regiment, while the Cambodian contingent included 160 personnel from the Royal Cambodian Army. According to the Ministry of Defence, this joint military exercise has further strengthened bilateral relations between India and Cambodia.
Looking ahead, the Indian Army is set to host a multinational military exercise named ‘Pragati’ from May 18 to 31, 2026, at the Foreign Training Node in Umroi, Meghalaya. This exercise will involve military contingents from 12 friendly nations, focusing on the theme ‘Resolute, Relentless, and United’. The aim is to bolster military cooperation, coordination, and mutual understanding among participating countries. During ‘Pragati’, soldiers will share experiences related to modern warfare skills, counter-terror operations, joint strategies, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions. This initiative is expected to enhance regional security cooperation and promote India’s military diplomacy.
