New Delhi, May 12: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the cancellation of the NEET UG exam, which was conducted on May 3, 2026, for MBBS admissions across the country. This decision comes in light of allegations that several questions from the exam were leaked prior to its administration.
The NTA stated that the exam would be rescheduled, although a new date has yet to be announced. Following the cancellation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will conduct an inquiry into the matter, with the NTA providing all relevant documents and information to assist in the investigation.
Approximately 23 lakh candidates participated in the exam held at various centers nationwide. The decision to cancel the exam was made after reviewing reports from central agencies and law enforcement, which indicated that maintaining the integrity of the examination process was paramount.
The NTA emphasized that while rescheduling the exam may pose challenges for students and their families, preserving public trust in the examination system is their top priority. They assured that candidates who registered for the May 2026 cycle would not need to reapply, and no additional fees would be charged. Furthermore, previously paid examination fees will be refunded.
The NTA has urged candidates and parents to rely solely on official announcements and to avoid unverified information circulating on social media. For assistance, candidates can contact the NTA helpline at 011-40759000 or 011-69227700.
